Use This Spring Season to Encourage a Love of Learning

You don't have to stay indoors to learn. Spring is the perfect time to go out and see the wonders of nature. This becomes a great learning opportunity because there is so much to see and explore outdoors.  The following idea can help you encourage your child to complete a learning activity that will help build memories and will stimulate your child's learning curiosity.

Spring Learning Project

If your child likes hands-on activities, creating a bird feeder is a great project. Look up a few different designs for bird feeders you can make at home and help your child study the structure and where it will go. Next, gather the materials you will need and help them put it together. Once it is ready, you can go out and buy some seeds or bird food to place in it. Help your child use their math skills to measure and build, as well as to calculate how much bird food or seeds they will buy and how much food to place in the bird feeder. Then, have them observe the different birds that drop by and encourage them to write down their observations. You take them to your local library to look up a book on birds so they can research more. You can also try other projects such as planting and gardening or even observing and classifying bugs. Encouraging your child to be curious about their environment helps them develop a love of learning.
