Help Your Child Have Fun While Learning Outside

Spring is here and that means a little more fun, a few days of free time, and some outdoor adventures. However, for some, it also means slacking off in school. During this time it just seems much more fun to play outside than to stay indoors and study. That is why today we want to share a few spring tips to help your child have fun outdoors while learning.

How to Use Your Lawn or Backyard to Learn

  • Gardening. Check out a book on gardening and planting from your local library and get started in your lawn or backyard. Start growing flowers, herbs, or even vegetables and use this as a learning opportunity.
  • Wildlife classification. You can also use this time to teach your child about bugs and plants. Help them get excited about classifying bugs or plants and even types of grass. They can take pictures and build a journal with information on the different classifications and types of wildlife that they have in their backyard.
  • Bugs and birds. You can also use the bug theme to talk about the food chain with birds and bugs. Along with this, you can encourage your child to investigate the role of insects and bugs in the ecosystem.
